The youngster, from Russia, was born with no eyes, being one of only three children in the whole world with this incredibly rare condition.
Devastatingly, the little boy was then abandoned by his young mother and placed in the care of an orphanage.
The mum felt she couldn't offer her baby the help he would need as he grew with his rare eye condition.
A nurse who cared for the little boy when he was just six months old said, "He is no different from other children, he plays and smiles just like any healthy baby."
"He loves playing and adores swimming. He is a very cheerful baby indeed."
The other children who were born with the same condition as Sasha, SOX2 anophthalmia syndrome, have other serious health problems. But aside from two benign cysts on his forehead, which have now been removed, the little boy is fighting fit.
SOX2 anophthalmia syndrome affects just one child in every 250,000 and leads to the abnormal development of the eyes and other body parts.
Sasha, who was born in Russia, is one of only three babies to be born in the world with no eyeballs, according to his doctors.
Sasha has now found a loving home of his own with Valery Kasatkin. Sadly, there is no hope that the youngster will ever be able to see; however, he has had tiny eye orbs implanted into his eye sockets to ensure that his face is not deformed as he grows.
He will need further surgery every six months while he grows to increase the size of the orbs.
